Afrikanische Filmtage / Journeés du cinéma africain

Kurze (Vor-)Geschichte:
Im Anschluss an eine Exkursion mit Studierenden der "Interkulturellen Kommunikation" der Universität des Saarlandes, die Frau Prof. Dr. Ute Fendler in Zusammenarbeit mit Herrn Dr. Helmut Schwartz durchgeführt hatte, sollten Filme, die bei dem internationalen Filmfestival FESPACO von Ouagadougou gezeigt wurden und Gegenstand der Seminare waren, auch einem breiteren Publikum zugänglich gemacht werden. Im November 2001 wurden daher in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kino achteinhalb in Saarbrücken afrikanische Filmtage veranstaltet. Das Interesse war so groß, dass es eine Neuauflage gab und sich die Filmtage, bei denen auch immer zwei afrikanische Regisseure/innen ihre Filme präsentierten, zu einer festen Veranstaltung wurden. 

Diese Tradition der Afrikanischen Filmtage wird nun vom Lehrstuhl Romanische Literaturwissenschaften auch jährlich in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität des Saarlandes weitergeführt. Seit 2009 finden jährlich afrikanische Filmtage im Cineplex statt.

A journey to the Indian Ocean – Cinema Africa 2021: "'Binti', Tanzania, 2020" - 17.11.2021


"Binti" ("daughter", "young woman") is the most recent film of Tanzanian filmmaker Seko Shamte. The movie tells the story of four women with very different careers, desires and social backgrounds in Dar es Salaam. The film slowly and intricately interweaves their respective perspectives. ...more

Mayfair is a 2018 South African Indian action crime drama film written by Neil McCarthy and directed by Sara Blecher. A journey to the Indian Ocean – Cinema Africa 2021: "'Maudit!', La Réunion 2021 und 'Sac la mort', La Réunion/France, 2015 by Emmanuel Parraud" - 14.11.2021


In November 2021, the film festival “Cinema Africa” of the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence invites the audience on a cinematic journey to the colourful world of the Indian Ocean.  The 13th edition of the festival will take place from 14.-17. November at Cineplex Bayreuth, Germany and will give the audience a chance for a meet and greet as well as discussion with the directors after each screening. ...more

Afrikaleidoskop - "Afro.Deutschland" - 19.04.2021


On 19 April at 5 p.m. (CEST) the film and discussion series "Afrikaleidoskop" will present "Afro.Deutschland" - a documentary on people of color living in Germany. The filmmaker and journalist Jana Pareigis will join the audience afterwards to participate in a discussion on the topics of the film. ...more
